Recreating a line chart
November 13, 2024This week I recreated a line chart from Reuters on United States Congress and the passage of laws. Moira Warburton and Ally J. Levine participated in its creation.

Highlights
The line chart is one of the charts I have visualized the most, and I love it when I can add an area to it. What I liked most about this recreation was the opportunity to use d3.curve, something I had wanted to do for a long time.
- It was fun to experiment with the different types of curves. It can be used with d3.line and d3.area. For the curious, take a look: d3.curve
- Having to recreate (or guess) the data, I sometimes struggle to get the appearance to be the same, and in this recreation, the difference between the two x-axes is quite visible.
- I still find it difficult to adjust the grids. I have noticed that sometimes I recreate visualizations where the grid exceeds a limit that I'm not able to do, I must be doing something wrong
